Meet The Owner

John Toler

John Toler, owner of Toler Hardlines & Horticulture, knows firsthand the power of encouragement, and the power of inspiring and building up others. His father, the late Desmond Toler, modeled it effectively in his law firm, in the community, in the local church, and with his family. John remembers his father’s words of encouragement and the hand written letters of inspiration and hope he received from him. Whether it be in business or personal relationships, John’s father lived out the power of believing in others and giving them hope and a bright future of success.

John enjoys building personal and business relationships that help and encourage others. Toler Hardlines & Horticulture is here to connect clients with hardline and landscape products but most importantly to give hope and encouragement along the way and help customers enjoy the things that matter most in life. His goal is to be the best partner to his clients by providing them with great hardline products, trees/plants, and stone to use in their creative projects.

After graduating from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, John has dedicated his entire 30 year professional career to the hardscape trades and green industry. Over 25 of those years have been helping clients with expert advice and supplying hardscape products (stone, blocks, pavers, mulch, soils, chemicals, erosion and other hardlines) and also plant material including trees, shrubs, groundcovers, annuals, and perennials.

John has personally worked with landscape contractors, builders, masons, contractors, golf courses, local governments, and homeowners. John has over 10 years of hands on horticulture experience working for himself, Walt Disney World, and a large landscape firm doing landscape maintenance, installation, and plant health care.

John has received professional certifications with:

  • International Concrete Paver Institute
  • Green Industry Certified Professional
  • Soil And Water Conservation
  • National Concrete Masonry Association
  • State Commercial Pesticide Applicators License
